Pilot Mountain — Creed Spice and Wood Impression

Green apple and lemon open bright and dry, then clove and pimento pepper move in over white birch, and the whole thing settles onto cedar, iris, and oakmoss. It is a spice-cabinet fragrance built on wood rather than sugar, closer to a cold morning than a dessert.

We chose Pilot Mountain because it smells like a hardwood ridge in October — apple, clove, and dry timber. The clove is the hinge: sharp enough to keep the fruit honest, warm enough to keep the cedar from turning severe. At extrait strength the woods hold much longer than the original does.
