Maison Appalachia is small on purpose. Every fragrance is blended by hand, eight to ten bottles at a time, in the hills of Northeast Tennessee.
The premise is simple. Some of the finest fragrances ever composed cost three hundred dollars a bottle. Others were discontinued years ago and can't be bought at any price. We make interpretations of them — faithful, concentrated, and honest about what they are.
What we choose
We don't chase the obvious ones. OK, we chase some of them, and we do love them, but our true passion is recreating obscure and discontinued fragrances that need to live on.
What's here instead: a barbershop fougère of such complexity that people call it a Rubik's cube in a bottle — lavender, oakmoss, leather, cumin — and a price that clears four hundred dollars. A bright lemongrass-and-maté cologne, discontinued years ago, now trading well above what it originally sold for. A bourbon vanilla and suede that arrived as a limited release, sold out worldwide, and never came back.
Too expensive, no longer made, impossible to find. Every fragrance here failed one of those three tests for someone, and every one of them is a bottle we reached for before we tried to make it.
How it's made
We are premium quality. Truthfully. We just are. We make these fragrances for ourselves, friends, and family and we don't allow anything to be sold in Maison Appalachia unless it is up to our standards.
We formulate at 25% concentration — extrait de parfum strength, not eau de parfum. Most alternatives in this category are considerably lighter. Ours are built to last on skin and to project the way the originals do.
What we're not
We are not affiliated with any of the houses referenced on this site, and we don't pretend to be. Their names appear here because you deserve to know what you're buying. These are interpretations — independent work, made in Tennessee, sold honestly.
If you want the original, buy the original. If the original is gone, or costs more than a car payment, we made this for you.
