The first hard freeze of the year. It ends the garden overnight.

Cold arrives first — a bright mandarin flash gone almost immediately, replaced by something metallic and mineral, like the smell of iron and wet stone in air that has dropped below freezing overnight. Saffron gives the opening a dry heat that reads as cold rather than warm, a trick of the nose that keeps the whole fragrance faintly disorienting. Violet and osmanthus soften the heart without sweetening it, adding a powdery, almost apricot glow beneath the mineral surface. The base is suede and pale wood, smooth and skin-close, finishing quiet.

We chose Killing Frost because Ganymede does something almost no other fragrance manages: it smells like temperature. Not a season, not a place, but the actual sensation of cold on skin. That made it the obvious anchor for a collection built around a first hard freeze — the October night that blackens the garden and ends the growing season in a single stroke. At extrait strength the mineral accord gains weight and the suede base turns richer and more animalic, so the drydown lingers where the original thinned out.
