Wayah Bald — Tom Ford Cherry Smoke Impression

Sour cherry and saffron open rich and glowing, closer to preserved fruit than candy — sweetness with warmth behind it. Leather, Chinese osmanthus, olive, and apricot fill the heart, where osmanthus does the real work, carrying apricot softness and supple leather at the same time, with a touch of olive to keep the fruit from turning cloying. Smoke, dry woods, and cypriol finish it with a warm resinous depth. Wayah Bald is plush and enveloping, cherry and leather warmed over embers.

We chose Wayah Bald because Cherry Smoke is the most captivating of Tom Ford's three cherries — and the one that rewards a stronger concentration most. At extrait strength the saffron and sour cherry hold their glow far longer, the osmanthus gains the body it needs to bridge fruit and leather, and the smoke and cypriol base stays warm and present through the evening instead of thinning out. It is sensual, a little mysterious, and genuinely comfortable to live in.
