Mendota — Parfums de Marly Sedley Impression

Cold spearmint and citrus hit first, sharp as a glass of something iced, then lavender and rosemary pull it toward the barbershop before ambroxan and cedar take the bottom. It is the coolest thing Parfums de Marly makes, and the least sweet.

We chose Mendota because it smells like creek water in August — mint, cold citrus, and stone. The original fades fast, which is its one real flaw. At extrait strength the mint stays put and the woods underneath carry it into the afternoon.
