Lover's Leap

Neroli, bergamot, and yuzu open it bright and clean, like citrus peel in sunlight. Orange blossom and jasmine sambac bloom in the heart, and tonka, vanilla, and amber warm the skin underneath. It's a floral amber that stays polished from the first spray to the last. Parfums de Marly named the original for Athénaïs de Montespan, a central figure at the court of Louis XIV, and it carries itself that way.

Lover's Leap is a rock outcrop above Hot Springs, North Carolina, where the Appalachian Trail climbs out of the French Broad River gorge. From the riverbank it's a 400-foot climb in about a third of a mile, all switchbacks, and the payoff is the whole French Broad laid out below you.
