Grandfather Mountain — Xerjoff Alexandria II Impression

Apple, cinnamon, palisander rosewood, and lavender open unexpectedly bright — fruity and aromatic rather than the dark opening the name suggests. Bulgarian rose, cedar, and lily-of-the-valley give the heart a classic oriental structure, floral and spiced at once, before Laotian oud, sandalwood, amber, vanilla, and musk settle into a velvety, resinous base. Alexandrie Royale is opulent and enveloping, a luxurious oud composition that stays smooth and creamy rather than turning medicinal.

We chose Grandfather Mountain because Alexandria II is among the most beloved things Xerjoff has made, and its appeal comes from restraint. The oud is real and present but never harsh, wrapped in sandalwood and vanilla so the whole composition reads warm rather than austere. At extrait strength the oud holds far longer before receding, the rose gains depth beneath it, and the sandalwood base becomes richer and more persistent. It performs exceptionally and it smells expensive.
