Clingmans Dome — Tom Ford Venetian Bergamot Impression

Bergamot opens with black and pink pepper and a bite of ginger, then gardenia, magnolia, and ylang-ylang fill the middle before sandalwood, tonka, and amber close it. The name promises citrus; what you get is a warm spiced floral with citrus on top.

We chose Clingmans Dome because the highest ground in the Smokies is bright and cold at the same time, and so is this. The pepper is what makes it: it keeps the white flowers from turning powdery or polite. At extrait strength the amber base holds long after the bergamot burns off.
