Black cherry and pink pepper up front, with a thread of saffron. The middle is rose and violet, plush rather than pretty, with peony and a soft woody note. Then it goes resinous: frankincense and myrrh over amber and musk. Deep red from start to finish.
Creed released Carmina in 2023, one of the first launches after Kering bought the house. It was inspired by Henry Creed's fashion sketchbooks, found in the family's private rooms in Paris and full of elaborate, full-skirted gowns. Émilie Bouge is credited as the perfumer.
We named it for bloodroot, one of the earliest wildflowers in the Smokies each spring: a plain white bloom around a gold center. Break the root and it bleeds orange-red sap, which is where the name comes from. Cherokee basket makers have long used that root to dye their baskets red, and it's gotten scarce enough in the wild that some now grow their own.
