Rose and oud, done with a light hand. Bergamot brightens the start, the rose is clean and a little tart, and the oud underneath is smooth rather than funky. Guaiac wood and papyrus give it a dry, faintly smoky finish.
Francis Kurkdjian released the first OUD silk mood in 2013 as an extrait, one of three Oud Moods each built around the feel of a fabric on skin. The eau de parfum followed in 2018, and the house compares it to multicolored raw silk. Ours follows the eau de parfum.
We named it for Rosman, a small town in Transylvania County, North Carolina. It was incorporated as Toxaway, renamed Estatoe, and in 1905 became Rosman, a name tannery owner Joseph Silversteen spliced together from two associates, Joseph Rosenthal and Morris Osmansky. His Toxaway Tanning Company drew its tannin from oak and chestnut and ran until 1958. In 1963 NASA dedicated a satellite-tracking station near town.
