Lemon Squeezer

Lemon and a cold, watery calone hit first, like ice cracking in a glass. Ginger and a vodka accord give it bite, and ambroxan and white musk keep it clean and close to the skin as it dries down. Kilian built the original around the Blue Lagoon cocktail, and it wears like summer poured over ice.

The Lemon Squeezer is a crack between boulders in Harriman State Park, New York, and the Appalachian Trail goes straight through it. The passage is three feet high, one foot wide, and tilted 15 degrees, so you turn sideways, suck it in, and hope your pack fits. J. Ashton Allis, one of the trail's original builders, gave it the name.
