Rum, bergamot, and tarragon open it boozy and a little herbal. Tobacco and ginger take over the heart, with rose softening the edges, and honey, beeswax, cinnamon, tonka, and leather give it a sticky-sweet, spiced finish. Think gingerbread in a leather armchair.

The overlook at Hawks Nest State Park sits about 750 feet above the New River. In Penhaligon's Portraits story, Roaring Radcliff is the secret son of Lord George and Clandestine Clara; Daphné Bugey composed the scent in 2016.
