Penhaligon's sells theatre. Ceramic animal heads, Victorian portraiture, names like The Tragedy of Lord George — and a price near $300 for 75 mL that you're partly paying for the sculpture on top. The joke is that the fragrances underneath are frequently excellent, and almost nobody gets far enough past the bottle to find out.

This set puts five of them in front of you.

Each is our own hand-blended impression, made at extrait de parfum strength. Five vials, 2 mL each, enough to wear each one properly across several days rather than judging it from a paper strip.

What's Included

• Le Dernier Lord — inspired by Penhaligon's The Tragedy of Lord George. Brandy and davana over lavender and geranium, landing on tonka, leather, and sandalwood. The boozy one, and the one people ask about.
• Monsieur Ardent — inspired by Penhaligon's The Blazing Mister Sam. Cardamom and cinnamon over black pepper, saffron, and cumin, with tobacco, vanilla, and patchouli underneath. Hot and cold spice at once.
• Cuir de Lune — inspired by Penhaligon's Endymion. Coffee, lavender, and sage over leather, incense, and vetiver. The cult favorite, and the strangest thing here.
• Coupe Nette — inspired by Penhaligon's The Cut. Mint and basil over clary sage and lavender, grounded in cedar, cypress, and fir. Savile Row in a bottle.
• L'Inimitable — inspired by Penhaligon's The Inimitable William Penhaligon. Bergamot and jasmine over vetiver, incense, and cedar, closing on sandalwood and ambroxan.
