Laundry hung on the line. Soap, cold water, sun.

Clean in the old sense — line-dried cotton, soap, cold water, sun. The opening is aldehydic and slightly effervescent, pink pepper adding a dry snap that keeps it from going soft too fast. The heart is white floral but restrained: rose and violet handled with a light hand, more the idea of flowers than a bouquet, with neroli lifting the whole thing toward air. Sandalwood and white musk carry the base, warm and powdery and faintly skin-like, so the drydown smells less like laundry and more like a person who smells extraordinarily clean.

We chose Wash Day because Blanche solves a problem most clean fragrances fail at — it smells like soap without smelling cheap. The aldehydes give it lift, the sandalwood keeps it from going flat and detergent-like, and the musk base makes it intimate rather than sterile. At extrait strength the sandalwood becomes considerably creamier and the musks deepen, giving the drydown a warmth the original only hinted at.
