Le Labo names each fragrance for its main note plus the number of ingredients: \u003cem\u003ethé noir\u003c\/em\u003e is French for black tea, and the formula has 29.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eWe named it for \u003cstrong\u003emountain tea\u003c\/strong\u003e, the old name for wintergreen you still hear in these mountains. It's an evergreen only a few inches tall that creeps along the forest floor from one end of the Appalachians to the other, with red berries that hang on into winter. Crush a leaf and you'll know it right away. It's the flavor in teaberry gum. Plenty of folks around here grew up chewing the leaves and eating the berries, and the leaves were brewed as a stand-in for real tea. There's no wintergreen in this bottle, so it won't smell like teaberry gum.
